Miss America

Miss Lisa Anne Auerbach and Miss Aleksandra Mir
Rental Gallery, 936 Mei Ling Way, Los Angeles, June 26 - August 5, 2006
Presented by Miss Sarah Gavlak

Sarah Gavlak conceived this little jewel of a show in perhaps 2005. We were talking about why cool artsy girls in Williamsburg were sporting little ’ 50s aprons. Sarah’s analysis was that since the Bush administration had pushed the country back in time to that decade, dressing ‘accordingly’ would then be a natural response by any young woman today. Out of this predicament, Miss America was born. Read Sarah's press release HERE.

The show opened at the Rental Gallery in LA on June 27. It was advertised as an ‘Art Show, Pageant and Catfight’, and for the opening Lisa made us all knitted sashes to wear.
