IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN

"IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN," Greene Naftali, 526 West 26th Street, Chelsea, (212) 463-7770, through
tomorrow. A great idea. For this show the gallery is functioning as a modest-size bookshop
stocked with inexpensive and hard-to-find publications, in several media, by or about
contemporary artists. From Lucas and Sternberg Press come polished books on Kai Althoff and
Marcel Odenbach. A collaborative called Continuous Projects (Wade Guyton, Seth Price and
Bettina Funke) offers photocopies of a hot publication of yesteryear, Avalanche. The musician
Arturo Lindsay is represented by CD's; Ara Peterson, of the disbanded Forcefield collective, by
a riveting video of horror movie outtakes. Most fun, and very cheap, is a tabloid newspaper
published by Aleksandra Mir, a young New York artist who should be on everyone's radar by now.
